• Wastewater and Aeration:  Sewage plants, water treatment plants and small ponds all use blowers – either Rotary Positive Displacement (Rotary PD) or Centrifugal to move air through their liquids. Whether it is aerating the water to enhance the reduction of biologics in the water or just keeping the water fresh, these blowers need silencers. As part of the entire blower package silencers help to keep our water safe and our waterways open.
  • Power Plants: Coal fired or natural gas power plants use steam turbines to help generate electricity. The steam that the turbines use is generated in boilers. To avoid over pressurization of the boilers and their accompanying steam lines they are equipped with safety relief valves. The noise generated when these valves open is harmful to the surrounding environment. Steam vent silencers are used to quiet the vent noise. Gas fired turbines use their residual heat to generate steam for the same purpose. They also require silencers on their valves. Stoddard Silencers has supplied vent silencers for applications at many of the USA’s major power plants.
  • Pneumatic Conveying:  Pneumatic conveying is used to move a variety of products: flour, clay, rocks, grains, dry chemicals and even the shuttle at your local drive up bank. The air for this conveying is provided by blowers which require silencers. To ensure proper conveying and avoid line plugs a smooth flow of air is required.  In addition to noise control silencers are the devices that insure the blower package delivers this smooth air flow. Many of the major domestic pneumatic conveying OEM’s use Stoddard Silencers as their standard silencer vendor.
  • Carpet Cleaning: The steam and chemicals used in carpet cleaning must be removed from your carpet once the cleaning is completed. A Rotary PD Blower is used for this purpose. It provides the maximum amount of suction required to extract the water and chemicals. Without silencers on the discharge of this blower the process would be too noisy for the neighborhood in which you live. Stoddard Silencers works with many of the major carpet cleaning companies to provide the quietest machines possible.
  • Vacuum Trucks: Whether cleaning up a spill at a local foundry or cleaning out the sewer system of a major municipality, vacuum trucks use large Rotary PD blowers to generate the suction necessary. The silencers for these trucks are always a special design based upon the unique structure of the OEM’s truck. Stoddard Silencers supplies most of the major Vacuum Truck OEM’s in the Unites States with their silencers. Each OEM has a specific requirement necessitating special proprietary designs for each company.
  • Bulk Transport Trucks: Many products are transported in bulk from place to place by trucks. Many of these trucks have small Rotary PD Blowers mounted on their frames so they can pneumatically unload the truck’s contents. Without silencers the noise generated also generates complaints from property owners adjacent to the plant. The noise levels are also injurious to those working nearby. Stoddard Silencers designs stock and custom silencers for bulk transport trucks. They control the noise and provide for better community relations.
  • Soil Remediation: Cleaning the soil of hazardous material spills is an ever increasing necessity. The systems that perform this duty employ Rotary PD Blower to create the vacuum necessary to draw the materials out. The silencers Stoddard Silencers produces quiet the noise of the PD Blowers and allow for a smoother air flow that assists in the operation of these remediation units.
  • Vacuum Systems: Whether the vacuum system is a central system in a home or a system located in an industrial plant, each system needs noise control. Stoddard Silencers provides silencers for the centrifugal blowers, Rotary PD Blowers and Water Ring Vacuum pumps that produce the needed vacuum. Experience with all types of vacuum pumps allows Stoddard to maximize the silencing with the best silencers in the market place.
  • Dairy Equipment: Vacuum systems are used to help milk the cows that provide us the cream and milk so necessary in our lives. Noisy systems disrupt the cows and lower output. Stoddard Silencers works with the largest OEM companies that make milking parlors. Stoddard Silencers are specially designed to provide the necessary silencing and we constantly receive high marks for our product, our service and our on time deliveries.
  • Oil and Gas Refineries: Many refineries have systems where high pressure gas is  moved from station to station. Within the system are safety relief valves necessary to protect the system from over pressurization which causes problems. These valves require Vent Silencers. Stoddard Silencers has the ability to review and custom design silencers to meet the various specifications of our customers. Whether the need is for stringent noise control, minimal pressure drop, back pressure control or space limitations, Stoddard Silencers can meet the need.
  • Blower and Compressor Packages: Even with the use of high quality silencers there are some communities with very rigorous noise level controls. In such cases noise enclosures are necessary to control all of the various noise sources within a compressor or blower package, In these cases a noise enclosure is required. Stoddard Silencers has several models available depending upon the silencing required. Each is engineered to maintain a proper heat load and provide the appropriate level of silencing. The PBE Enclosures are also significant in that they are manufactured from recyclable materials making them the “Green Solution” for noise enclosures.
  • Dust Control: Stoddard Silencers are used to solve two problems in dust control systems. The first is to silence the air moving device used to create the vacuum which enables the dust control system to work. These are normally industrial fans which create large volumes of air at relatively low pressure (les than 15” of W.C.). In the past industrial fans did not have silencers but with noise control receiving significantly more attention lately, silencers are more prevalent. The other solution we provide is silencing the blowers on the pneumatic systems used to carry away the collected dust. For the occasional user of blower packages Stoddard Silencers markets their PD base Mounted Blower Silencers. These are Discharge Silencers mounted in an integral base on which the blower and motor can be mounted. Stoddard also has accessories for the blower package (Intake Air Filters, Intake Silencers, Silencer supports, flexible connectors and belt guards) in varying packages that allow the dust control OEM to build a blower package without having to stock all of the various parts.
  • Pulp & Paper: Here again, Stoddard Silencers has a two fold mission with the Pulp and Paper industry. Wood chips used in this industry are conveyed using large quantities of air at relatively high pressures (8-12 psig). The blowers that provide this air alaso provide unique problems to maintain silencer integrity along with proper silencing and pulse control. Stoddard Silencers vast experience in the Rotary PD Blower market allows us to custom design silencers to the OEM’s needs. In addition within the paper plant Stoddard Silencers can also provide intake and discharge separator silencers to remove free liquid from the air stream that would damage the blower or vacuum pump and/or create significant cost if it was not recycled.
  • Gas Separation: Gas separation plants use silencers in two places. In “swing” systems where the blower alternates between pressure and vacuum operation custom designed silencers are necessary to handle the “swing” while still maintaining structural integrity. Stoddard Silencers years of experience allow us to do these custom designs quickly and accurately. Gas separation plants also will use vent silencers to vent excess gases normally at high pressures. Stoddard Silencers has the ability to review and custom design silencers to meet the various specifications of our customers. Whether the need is for stringent noise control, minimal pressure drop, back pressure control or space limitations, Stoddard Silencers can meet the need.
  • Custom Applications: Stoddard Silencers excels at the unique. Whether it is making a silencer that can be taken apart and cleaned or a silencer that has to fit inside a small confined space, Stoddard Silencers has the ability to meet the need in a timely manner. Meeting the challenges of today’s market with unique products has made Stoddard Silencers the unsurpassed leader in industrial silencing. When no one else can do it, Stoddard Silencers can.
